It is called a convenience because it is supposed to be favorable, easy, or comfortable for use. You can imagine how a toilet will look if its only cleaned once weekly. You don't need to be told seeing is believing, It is definitely a no go area.
Even an abadoned toilet should be cleaned before use. You don't expect a toilet not in use for a week to still be healthy for use, soft cleaning and disinfection is needed if you want to play safe.
Toilets must be checked and cleaned regularly to avoid the risk of toilet germs and diseases.
